General Wet Weather Information

The Sutherland Shire Council Wet Weather Line is 02 9710 0105

Council has the final say during the week, so this number will tell you if the fields are closed for training.

The Association has the say on the weekend unless specifically advised otherwise by SSJCA management, the decision to play or not to play is in the hands of the Coaches and managers at the ground.

Please refer to Rule 9.3 of the Competition Playing Regulations.

When making your decision please take into account the following:

1. The condition of the field

Most fields are only just recovering from a very dry winter, please do not play if you are going to further damage the field.

2. The safety of the players

Do not play if the condition of the pitch or the field poses a safety hazard to the players.

3. Can the field be restored

If water or a hazard can be removed and the conditions made safe then it is the responsibility of BOTH teams to do so

4. The time limit.

If a start is possible and at least half of the overs could be bowled then the match should not be abandoned. In a 50 over game that normally starts at 8.00am then the match should not be abandoned until it is clear that a start could not be made before 9.30am.

5. Try to give the players a game.

Remember that most of your players only get one chance a week to play cricket. If it is possible to play without risk of injury and without damaging the ground then you should attempt to play. The scores in the game should not be a factor.

In the event that the second days play is shortened:

One half of the overs must be bowled to get a result (or 17 overs in a 35 over match) the winner will be the team with the best run rate.

Refer to Law 12.6 in MCC Rules (SSJCA Adjustment)

If in doubt, contact your club.

Show up and be ready to play.
