Training Calendar 2011/2012

Allocation of available net and field use times is now being co-ordinated, so if you need to allocate time for your side, please contact Warren Daley 0402 086 853 for bookings.

Waratah's Training Facilities

Council approves the use of the Waratah cricket nets & Waratah (AFL) oval for our club during the cricket season. There is a longstanding agreement whereby the soccer field that adjoins the cricket nets is allocated for the use of the St Patricks Baseball and St Patricks Cricket.

St Patricks Cricket Club has rights of usage for:

  1. The Oval: Monday to Friday 4pm- 6pm. WE USE only the 1/3rd of the field closest to the nets.
  2. The Nets: Monday to Friday 4pm to late

Team Reservations

At the start of each season, each St Patricks cricket team reserves a training time and that time allows the team to use either the nets or the top oval. You don’t need to book the oval separately. (The reserved times are displayed above).

How to schedule a training session

  1. Check the website to see the current, permanent bookings. These teams have priority for the nets, the surrounding areas (soccer field) and the oval for their reserved times. No team can simply arrive and expect to "fit in" by using whatever area is not being used.
  2. Contact someone on the committee to: (a) see if anyone else has scheduled a one-off training session for the time you're after (& so is not listed on the website); (b) reserve the time slot
  3. If you want to use, say, the top oval for a one-off session, then check with the team(s) that has the reservation to ensure they’re not using it.
  4. Coaches should be aware that neither council nor our club would ever give permission to another team to use the nets or the oval during your time slot. So if a team arrives & claims that they've checked with "person x" who said "it would be ok", then they have been misinformed.

Weekends

While we don’t have official allocation of the facilities on the weekend, this same process should apply so as to avoid more than one team arriving and expecting to use either the oval or the nets. However, any organised weekend game (either cricket or baseball) takes 100% priority and we should not intrude on any playing area. For example, if a game of baseball is being played on the weekend on the soccer field, then under no circumstances can we use any part of that field.

Other training areas

At times you might consider using other areas for training. DON’T DO IT. For example, sometimes the rugby league field is vacant & is tempting to use. However the insurance cover that is in place assumes that teams are training in the nominated areas. While a problem is unlikely, we’d obviously prefer to avoid a situation where a parent took some action against the club for a training injury and the outcome was the coach was personally liable because the insurers said he/she was training in an unauthorized area! (An exception to this is the Taren Point Indoor Centre where their insurance would come into force.)
