St Pats 12F(1) are Premiers!

St Patricks 3* 3/95 (Ben A 28no, Caleb 20, Raycole 12) beat Sylvania 3 7/86 (Raycole 1/4, Lachlan 1/6)

A great win in the final boys, and congratulations on gaining a premiership. All round a top season.

Sylvania batted in the first innings, scoring 86. St Pats bowling was very tight and the boys concentrated for the entire 35 overs, both bowling and in the field. Ben M and Nick opened the bowling, sending down 3 overs each and conceding only 7 runs between them. Ray and Caleb then kept up the pressure, with Raycole taking a wicket thanks to a great delivery and a classic one-handed catch by Ben M. Ben A came on and with Lachlan’s catching assistance took another quick wicket. Brett, Liam (our great substitute) and Erion then kept up the pressure. Liam took a great caught and bowled to dismiss Sylvania’s most dangerous batsman on the day. Ray and Erion each ran out batsmen. Then Ben F, Lachlan and Alex kept up the bowling pressure at the end of the innings, bowling tight and conceding few runs while the batsmen tried to score quickly. Liam also effected a great run out.

We came in to bat, with Alex and Lachlan getting the innings off to a bright start, hitting some great shots through cover and mid wicket and running together very well to pick up byes and leg byes. They both fell in quick succession (each for 5) to great deliveries. Caleb and Ben A then set to staying in for a while and dismantling the attack through lots of clever singles and occasional boundaries. Caleb ended up with his highest score of the season (20). Ben sailed through to 28 (retired), smashing a huge boundary to get to 28. Ray came in, and in a very short time hammered 12, including 2 very strong boundaries. Brett helped get us over the line, with the victory achieved with 6 overs to spare.
