It was lovely to see the boys back in their whites after a long cold winter. The first week saw them bat and they got off to a good start with a very impressive partnership from Julian and Justin.
Connor looked like he was going to set the pitch on fire, only to be disappointed, having to retire hurt.
With only 9 boys to bat, the middle order of Max, Luke, Rowan and Nathan kept us in the game by blocking and running on every mistake Caringbah made.
With only 2 overs to go, Jarrat and Brett were told by Coach Warren to “Go for it” and their partnership finished off the innings with some great shots and 14 runs not out.
Fielding week 2 saw some fantastic bowling and fielding from all the boys with Brett taking a magnificent 4 wickets for 15 runs, with a wicket each for Jarrat (1 for 7 and a great catch) Rowan, (1 for 16) Connor (1 for 15) and Justin (1 for 15).
Justin and Max did a great job as wicket keepers with Max bagging a catch and Nathan, Julian and Luke fielded wonderfully with some very impressive throws back to the stumps.
In the end Caringbah came away the winners and overall it was a good effort from the boys, first week back and very promising for the future.
Thank you to Hewitt and Tim (under 10’s) for helping the boys out on the field. You guys did a great job.
